Let us apply this philosophy of testing and coding side by side to the object-oriented version of the Hello World program by creating a test case for it in NetBeans IDE v8.2. NetBeans IDE is the official IDE for Java 8 for the development of desktop, mobile, and web applications, as well as HTML5 (including Oracle JET) applications with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. ![]() In this article, we will apply this philosophy of testing and coding side by side to an object-oriented version of the Hello World program by creating a test case for it in NetBeans IDE. The main philosophy behind this testing framework is to make coding and testing move hand in hand. JUnit tests increase the stability of the software. It is a regression-testing framework, which allows the developer to write code faster with high quality. Erick Gamma and Kert Beck originally wrote it. JUnit is a simple, free and open-source framework to write repeatable unit tests using Java. This article demonstrates the benefit of Unit testing with very less effort and would immediately encourage developers in getting into the habit of writing unit tests simultaneously with production code. Even the NetBeans documentation on creating Unit tests requires familiarity with Java Collections classes. Generally, it takes a couple of years for a Java developer working on professional projects to appreciate the benefits of writing unit tests for his/her code. It would hardly take 10 minutes for a beginner-level Java developer to try out the code in this article. This is an actionable article that guides a user to write a very simple unit test while developing a simple application. This article provides an introduction to the test-first or test-driven development (TDD) philosophy which recommends that unit testing and coding should go hand-in-hand to ensure the stability of your code. You need not be familiar with the JUnit framework or NetBeans IDE to follow this article. at (EventDispatchThread.java:205)Īt (EventDispatchThread.java:116)Īt (EventDispatchThread.java:105)Īt (EventDispatchThread.java:101)Īt (EventDispatchThread.java:93)Īt (EventDispatchThread. This article is intended for Java developers with basic knowledge of core Java and Object Oriented Principles. But it isn't the revelation that it would have been a couple of years ago: we've seen too much of these types and their machinations. It even does a good job of explaining short-selling with the help of a ketchup sachet. ![]() It has a uniformly strong cast and makes good points about this willy-wagging world, making ground-breaking use of Minstrels (the chocolates not the crooners) which has to be seen to be believed. It's crisply written and is incisively staged by Roxana Silbert. Set on the bond floor of a London investment bank, where a grim gaggle of traders jostles for position, Roaring Trade is the first credit-crunch play to hit the stage this year, though it's not the first satire on the money markets: 22 years ago Caryl Churchill's Serious Money brought a flock of red braces into the stalls. Now Steve Thompson's new play is here to warn us that the world of high finance is a grisly land which saps the soul. First David Hare's Gethsemane attacks New Labour when the project has imploded. There's a weird time slippage taking place in political theatre. Lionel Bart's show has an amazing string of contagious songs, but its display of frolicsome Victoriana belongs to another era: not to the 19th century, but to the 1960s. Billy Elliot has proved that the West End musical can be abrasive as well as buoyant that flight doesn't have to mean escape. The vividly grotesque Julian Bleach bends his body into a question mark as Sowerberry the undertaker as Dr Grimwig, he is a mouth on legs, with his teeth sticking out at right angles from his gums. There are glimmers of how Dickens could be made to register more sharply on stage. The Artful Dodger is always going to be more engaging: Ross McCormack, one of the three Dodgers, is bendy-limbed and savvy, and has a grin that reaches to the gallery. That's in keeping with the part but it's also a problem if you're meant to be the hero. Harry Stott, one of the three winning Olivers, is a decorous and sweet-voiced chorister: he looks far more at home in his Little Lord Fauntleroy velvets than in urchin rags. Jodie Prenger's Nancy is boisterous but strangely bland: she scarcely changes from one number to another. They don't make a strong case for selection by small-screen voting. On the other hand, there's the I'd Do Anything contingent. In a show which has become as familiar to most of the audience as panto, he is the Dame. He goes beyond putty to pouty when he puts on his tiara and plays around with his necklaces: "Hello pearl, meet ruby." He makes an identity out of insinuation. On the one hand, there is old-style TV stardom in the putty-like presence of Rowan Atkinson. What has already made it a commercial success - the advance ticket sales were a record-breaking £15m - is, of course, telly. He has the same choreographer, Matthew Bourne, who bowls the evening along with a rolling, stage-enveloping series of thumb-in-jacket, elbows-out set pieces.īourne, who also co-directs, gives the show considerable yeast. He has the same designer, Anthony Ward, who supplies pretty pop-up London skyscapes and lots of brown interiors. He has worked with some of the Mendes team. ![]() But his effect has been curtailed as his brief was limited: his task was not to re-create Oliver! but to re-stage Sam Mendes's 1994 production. Rupert Goold, a director of radical flair, who has brushed a lot of dust off elderly pieces, might seem a strong choice for reinventing Lionel Bart's hit 1960 musical. Indian paintbrush has similar health benefits to consuming garlic, though only if the flowers are eaten in small amounts and in moderation. Highly alkaline soils increase the selenium levels in the plants. These plants have a tendency to absorb and concentrate selenium in their tissues from the soils in which they grow, and can be potentially very toxic if the roots or green parts of the plant are consumed. The flowers of Indian paintbrush are edible, and were consumed in moderation by various Native American tribes as a condiment with other fresh greens. Is someone injured?” she called, stepping over the ominous pool into the gloom. Her stomach plummeted when she realized it was unmistakably blood. She crouched down with a curious expression eyebrows knitting as she inspected the strange puddle of crimson liquid pooled on the fungus-coated wood. Hinata paused when a flesh of red disturbed the muted tones of gray and brown. Dust drifted out of the threshold, as the thing barely held on by half a hinge. Carefully, Hinata skirted the intact edge of the porch to meander up to the door. It protested considerably but thankfully did not yield. The wood of the porch groaned as Hinata tested her weight on it. Did they enjoy gardening? Did those once hold flowers or herbs? A cracked plastic trellis indicated a vinous plant, like strawberries, even. A few clay flower pots huddled by the side of the abode, overgrown with weeds and clovers. A frayed rope snaked across the yard, evidence of a clothesline once stretched from the window. Only so much could be gleaned from the spirits of lives past as Hinata wandered over the cracked, dirty stone that once marked a pathway to the porch, which had detached partially from the house and has sunk precariously into the earth, she spotted a few artifacts of those who had once called the cabin home. ![]() I wonder what a house is doing way out here? It was obvious that the home had been out of commission for an exceptionally long time. Hinata blinked slowly as she regarded the destroyed structure in the center of the overgrown yard. She tracked the senseless winding path through the lichen-coated trunks until suddenly it all fell away to reveal a sun-dappled clearing with a dilapidated house in the middle. Her fingers skipped over the emerald, spiked leaves of the bushes and brambles as her feet floated over the uneven, dense layer of detritus. The air hummed with the trills of cicadas and tunes of birdsong the musty odor of decaying leaves and rich earth floated up into her nostrils to fill her to the brim with a sense of grounding. Hinata found herself rising to cross the tide of petals to drift underneath the canopy of leaves, like a ghost wandering the astral plane to find meaning again. Pockets of forest dotted the Land of Flowers, little blots of mesocosms contained in the ocean of beauty. Hinata’s pale lavender eyes drifted to the ring of green framing the spacious carpet of colors in which she currently rested. The breeze caught their fluffy, feathery bodies to spirit them away into the great unknown, and Hinata watched through lidded eyes as they were carried off. Hinata plucked a dandelion blooming in one of the patches of light and brought it to her mouth so she could blow away the light, delicate seeds. Hinata hoped that it was simply rumor, for she couldn’t imagine who would want to brutally murder a twelve-year-old girl, but the world was a lawless, dangerous, and unforgiving place. ![]() Officials had caught wind of an assassination plot stewing, so they’d dispatched Team 8 along with a small cohort of Anbu Black Ops to guard her until the day of her thirteenth birthday passed that was the supposed date for the ill-gotten plan. Hinata slowly walked to a lone oak tree sprawling on a small hill in the center of the field and then reclined amongst its protruding bumpy roots, inhaling happily as she enjoyed the cool shade. Their soft petals brushed against the fabric of Hinata’s ninja uniform as they swayed in the gentle breeze rolling over the horizon. The blooms stretched on in every direction, kaleidoscoping against the emerald green grass in bursts of white, yellow, pink, blue, and red. The Land of Flowers was aptly named the small village on the outskirts of the Land of Fire boasted many fields such as these.
